<h3>Securing Your Account with 2FA</h3> <p>Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your DirectAdmin login. When enabled, you will need both your password and a time-based one-time code from an authenticator app to sign in.</p> <h3>Prerequisites</h3> <p>Before enabling 2FA, install an authenticator app on your mobile device:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Google Authenticator</strong> - Available for iOS and Android.</li> <li><strong>Authy</strong> - Available for iOS, Android, and desktop.</li> <li><strong>Microsoft Authenticator</strong> - Available for iOS and Android.</li> <li>Any TOTP-compatible authenticator app will work.</li> </ul> <h3>Enabling Two-Factor Authentication</h3> <ol> <li>Log in to DirectAdmin at <code>https://your-server:2222</code>.</li> <li>Navigate to <strong>Account Manager</strong>.</li> <li>Click on <strong>Two-Step Authentication</strong> (or <strong>2FA</strong>).</li> <li>A QR code will be displayed on screen.</li> <li>Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code.</li> <li>Enter the 6-digit verification code displayed in your authenticator app to confirm setup.</li> <li>Click <strong>Enable</strong> or <strong>Save</strong> to activate 2FA.</li> </ol> <div class="alert alert-warning">Save the backup/recovery codes provided during setup in a secure location. If you lose access to your authenticator app, these codes are the only way to regain access to your account.</div> <h3>Logging In with 2FA</h3> <p>After enabling 2FA, the login process requires an additional step:</p> <ol> <li>Enter your username and password as usual.</li> <li>You will be prompted for a verification code.</li> <li>Open your authenticator app and enter the current 6-digit code.</li> <li>Click <strong>Verify</strong> to complete the login.</li> </ol> <h3>Disabling Two-Factor Authentication</h3> <ol> <li>Log in to DirectAdmin (you will need your current 2FA code).</li> <li>Go to <strong>Account Manager &gt; Two-Step Authentication</strong>.</li> <li>Click <strong>Disable</strong> to turn off 2FA.</li> </ol> <div class="alert alert-info">If you have lost your authenticator device and backup codes, contact our support team for assistance with account recovery.</div>
