This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the prohibited uses of UniTotal Communications services. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.
Important: Violations of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of services without refund.
1. Prohibited Activities
You may not use UniTotal services for any of the following:
Illegal Activities
- Conducting or facilitating any illegal activities
- Transmitting content that violates local, state, federal, or international law
- Engaging in fraud, including identity theft or phishing
- Money laundering or terrorist financing
Harassment and Abuse
- Making threatening, harassing, or abusive communications
- Stalking or repeatedly contacting someone against their wishes
- Transmitting obscene or offensive content
- Discriminatory harassment based on protected characteristics
Unsolicited Communications (Spam)
- Sending unsolicited commercial messages (voice or SMS spam)
- Robocalls without prior express consent
- Telemarketing in violation of Do Not Call regulations
- Sending bulk messages without proper opt-in consent
Fraud and Misrepresentation
- Caller ID spoofing for fraudulent purposes
- Impersonating government officials, law enforcement, or other entities
- Phishing or social engineering attacks
- Providing false information during account registration
Network Abuse
- Attempting to disrupt or compromise our network or systems
- Unauthorized access to other accounts or systems
- Traffic pumping or artificially inflating call volumes
- Using services to conduct denial-of-service attacks
2. SMS/MMS Specific Rules
When using our messaging services, you must:
- Obtain proper consent before sending commercial messages
- Honor opt-out requests within 24 hours
- Include clear identification and opt-out instructions
- Comply with TCPA, CTIA, and carrier guidelines
- Not send SHAFT content (Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco)
- Not use shared short codes for high-risk messaging
3. Caller ID Rules
When setting outbound caller ID:
- You may only display numbers you are authorized to use
- Caller ID must not be misleading or used for deceptive purposes
- Spoofing caller ID with intent to defraud is illegal under the Truth in Caller ID Act
- We may verify your right to use displayed numbers
4. API Usage
When using our API:
- Rate limits must be respected
- API credentials must be kept secure
- Automated systems must comply with all other AUP provisions
- You are responsible for actions taken through your API credentials
5. Fair Use
Unlimited plans are subject to fair use policies:
- Services are for normal business/personal use
- Reselling services without authorization is prohibited
- Excessive usage patterns may indicate violations
- We reserve the right to investigate unusual activity
6. Enforcement
We take a multi-step approach to enforcement:

7. Reporting Violations
If you receive unwanted communications from a UniTotal number or witness a violation, please report it:

- Include: Date/time, phone numbers involved, description of violation
We investigate all reports and take appropriate action.
